Nylon yarn is a kind of textile fabric, which has many types such as monofilament, strand and special yarn.

Characteristics of Nylon Yarn

Nylon filament has high strength, good impact resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, stagnation resistance, acid resistance and not alkali resistance, good light resistance (after acrylic fiber). When it is exposed for 1000 hours, its strength remains 60-70%. It has poor hygroscopicity, is difficult to dye and easy to wash and dry. It good shape retention. Nylon filament products are mainly used to produce decorative fabrics. Compared to the gloss of real silk, nylon fabrics have a poor gloss, as if they were coated with a layer of wax.

Nylon fabrics can be divided into three types: pure spinning, mixed spinning and interwoven fabric. Each type contains many varieties:

Nylon pure textile fabric is a kind of fabric made of nylon yarn, such as nylon taffeta, nylon enamel, etc. Because of using nylon filaments, it has the characteristics of smooth, durable and moderate price. There are disadvantages that the fabric is easy to wrinkle and difficult to recover. Nylon taffeta is mostly used for light clothing, down-filled coat or raincoat cloth, while nylon enamel is suitable for summer dress, spring and autumn shirt.

Nylon mixed spinning and woven fabrics are made from nylon filaments or staple fibers blended or interwoven with other fibers. They combine the characteristics and strengths of each fiber. For example, viscous/nylon is made of 15% nylon and 85% viscous spinning, which has twice the density and the weft density. It is thick and firm, and is durable. The disadvantages are poor elasticity, easy wrinkle, easy to sag when worn.

The Difference Between Polyester Yarn and Nylon Yarn

The most common nylon products in the market are nylon 6 and nylon 66.

Nylon 6: The full name is polycaprolactam fiber, which is formed by polymerization of caprolactam.

Nylon 66: The full name is polyhexamethylene adipamide fiber, which is formed by polymerization of adipic acid and hexamethylene diamine.

The common characteristics of nylon 6 and nylon 66: poor light resistance, the intensity is reduced under long-term sunlight and ultraviolet light, the color is yellow. Its heat resistance is not good enough, at 150 ° C, it takes 5 hours to change to yellow. Intensity and elongation decreased significantly, and shrinkage increased. However, nylon 6 and 66 filaments have good low temperature resistance, their resilience does not change much when the temperature is below 70 °C.

Application of Nylon Yarn

Nylon filament is mostly used in knitting and silk industry, such as single silk stockings, elastic stockings and other wear-resistant and strong nylon socks, nylon shawls, mosquito nets, nylon lace, elastic nylon outerwear, various nylon silk or interwoven silk products. In the industry, nylon is used in large quantities to manufacture cords, industrial fabrics, cables, conveyor belts, tents, fishing nets, and so on. It is mainly used as a parachute and other military fabrics in national defense.

Nylon filaments are often used as low-elastic yarns to make a variety of textiles; staple fibers: cotton, wool, hemp, etc. can be blended, industrial: tire cords, fishing nets, ropes, filter cloth, edge materials. It is currently the largest amount of chemical fiber. Nylon (sturdy and wear resistance): The biggest advantage is the durability.
