What is COVID-19？
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of Corona-virus. 'CO' stands for corona, 'VI' for virus, and 'D' for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as '2019 novel corona-virus' or '2019-nCoV'.
The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose. To protect yourself, clean your hands frequently with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning that they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.
To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, do the following:
Ø Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
Ø Maintain at least 1 metre distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
Ø Avoid touching your face.
Ø Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Ø Stay home if you feel unwell.
Ø Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
Ø Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has affected day to day life and is slowing down the global economy. This pandemic has affected thousands of peoples, who are either sick or are being killed due to the spread of this disease.
